MOMLIS

Linea is the artist behind MOMLIS gallery. She grew up on Langeland, Denmark and it has for her always meant a close relationship with nature and great respect for its impact on humans.

Linea says “For the last 10 years I have lived with my husband on the southern part of the island in his hometown - Bagenkop. We live and work in a true natural gem. In this part of Denmark we are lucky with short distances to the coast. It is always possible to find a place where there is shelter and good places for outdoor activity. There have been many walks along the beach. I always find motifs or materials that inspire the work with images. The sound of seagulls and the roar of the sea always lies like a soundtrack in the background.

The Gyotaku technique I came across in connection with research for teaching visual arts. Was quickly gripped by the idea of paying homage to nature by immortalizing the individual copy directly with artistic prints. I have taught myself the method and am still developing on my own style. Every single print - even of the same fish - is unique. No two pressures are alike.

My husband is a fisherman, which means we always have access to many exciting fish. The large variety of species makes it possible to create different expressions and sizes in the images. By-catches such as crab, seaweed and starfish are also included as part of the motifs.”
